Bob Panella met his to be wife in this boat, thus the name "FIRST DATE". Harlan Orrin built the new wood deck for Bob. Bob presented the boat to his wife for their wedding anniversary. The boat was best of show at the Bass Lake Boat Show.

440 Shockwave (1)

There were two Shockwave Hondo hydros that ran top fuel in the 60s. This is the first of the two. The Shockwave boats were followed up with Aftershock. At first the boat was metal flake gold, with the number 441 on it, then a short time later the metal flake blue was added and the number was changed to 440.

Driven by Mac Christensen in the Blown Fuel Hydro class at the NDBA's 1973 Drag Boat Grand Prix at Long Beach Marine Stadium on September 29th and 30th. It was registered on the program as 441 at the time and ran a Chrysler engine.
